Portrait of a family, Alaska, circa early 1900s.

Early 20th-century black and white portrait of an Alaskan family. A man sits on the left wearing a fur-trimmed parka and a cap, holding a long object that could be a hunting tool. To his right stands a woman clad in a furry hooded robe. Between them is a young child, also in fur clothing, with a solemn expression. On the ground beside the man is a traditional woven basket. They all wear mukluks and appear in traditional Inuit attire, indicative of their lifestyle and the era's clothing.
